WaterAid responded to the COVID-19 emergency by supporting two studies that examined the gender, equity, and inclusion impacts of COVID-19 on Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) access in East Africa. We were tasked to:
Collate primary data collected across 5 East African countries and identify trends and insights across the data set
Analyse the primary data findings against a theoretical study on gender, equity, and inclusion in WASH emergency response contexts and bring findings together in a report and policy brief
This report was validated by WASH stakeholders across East Africa and is being used to influence policy-making and resource allocation for gender-focused and inclusive WASH provision across the region. Click to read the report and policy brief.
